School Readiness Goal:

Children will demonstrate recognition of name and basic awareness of self, family and community. Alignment Reference: Teaching Strategies GOLD: Obj. 29 & 30 GELDS: CD –SS1, CD- SS2 & CD-SS3

Activities:

1.  Ask families to complete a tie at home and have the children help them complete it at home and display in the classroom. Go over these at circle time asking questions about what and who is on their tie.









2.  Write this out and go over it at circle time and let children fill in the blank.



















3.  Discuss why “grown ups” have jobs, make a list and display.












4.  Use this as a file folder game.













5.  Great visual for children to see they are a great big part of the community!

















6.  Make fire trucks and go over Fireman and their job duties.












7. Have a vet in a box, laundry basket, or tote.











8.  Take time with each child and ask them what they can do. Write it down and chart it out.














9.  Cute poem to teach the children and attach to a photo or make a classroom book with.












10.  Print this and laminate it and use to make playdough faces.


11.  Chart the girls and the boys.














12.  Chart what the children want to be when they grow up.
