Teaching Concepts for Large Group

1. What happens in the fall? Discuss changes in trees, temperature, clothing, and holidays. 2. What is another word for Fall? Autumn. This season is between Summer and Winter. There are 4 seasons, name all 4 seasons. 3. What are the colors of Fall? Yellow, brown, orange, and red. 4. Fall is harvest time. Harvest means gathering the fruits and vegetables. 5. Many plants and animals begin to prepare for the Winter in the Fall. How do they do that? What do they do? 6. What sports are played in the fall?

Teaching Concepts for Small Group

1. Leaf Rubbings 2. Implement File Folder game 3. Make a Fall Scene 4. What to Wear, discuss weather changes and implement with felt pieces, magazine cut outs, etc. 5. Fall Sorting (egg cartons, acorns, maple seeds, pine cones, leaves, and other fall objects in a container). Encourage children to sort the objects in the egg carton. When activity is complete, be sure to have the container with the materials out of reach (choking hazards). 6. Color sorting. Sort objects that are Fall colors. 7. What belongs? After discussing Fall and the changes have pictures from all seasons. Encourage the children to find the items pertaining to Fall only and discuss why and how. 8. Nature walk collage 9. Teaching Concepts for Finger-plays

Teaching Concepts for Outdoor Experiences

1. Leaf Up! Children should be gathered up in groups of 2-3, and teachers or the chosen child tosses a leaf into the air. The children can touch it and toss the leaf with any body part except their hands! This encourages movement of the whole body in very creative and funny ways. 2. Nature walk. Collect gatherings in paper bag.

CLASS Concepts

Go on a nature walk around the playground gathering items for classifying, or encourage parents to take the children on a nature walk at home and bring in items from their family walk. Ask the children to brainstorm various ways the items can be sorted: color, shape, size, texture (stiff or flimsy….advanced language), animal, vegetable, or mineral, etc. Engage children in using scientific tools like bug boxes, tweezers, magnifying glasses, and microscopes when gathering and sorting objects. Provide opportunities for children to be creative outside, using items from nature as a paint brushes and collage materials.


Teaching Concepts for Distance Learning

Dance and Freeze

Play music and encourage children to get up and dance, then children must freeze when the music stops.
