Changes to Environment

Teaching Concepts for Indoor Experiences

1. Talk about the different types of transportation and how they travel, look at pictures and/or toy transportation  2. Draw a picture of favorite type of transportation 3. Transportation File Folder Game 4. Talk about Pedestrian Safety, look at pictures and practice 5. Talk about road signs and look at pictures of each one, pretend play to practice what they mean 6. Tire art (drive trucks, cars, etc through paint then onto paper) 7. Put pieces of a transportation puzzle together 8. Paint with plastic gears (dip gear in paint and stamp it on paper) 9. Build a road with homemade road pieces, drive vehicles on it 10. Build a car with blocks 11. Drawing with cars (tape marker to back of car to where the tip of the marker touches the paper, children will push car around on paper)











12. Car Ramps

Building ramps for cars is another fun construction activity that kids love. All you need are some cars, planks of wood and some building blocks. Kids can experiment and observe what happens when they elevate the ramps to different heights and angles.



13. Track Painting

Another mark-making activity that encourages early writing in preschools, is this track painting activity. You can use toy cars, trains, or any other mode of transportation you may have to lie in the toy box. Kids will ride the vehicle through a tray of paint and race it across some paper, forming interesting marks and tracks.
