Teaching Concepts for Indoor Experiences

1. Look at pictures of our families and talk about our families and how each one is unique

2. Look at pictures and talk about what activities you do with your family.

3. Families Have/Can/Are Anchor Chart (Shared Writing) Each day this week we added to our anchor chart for shared writing as we learned more about families. 

4. How many are in your family? Count all the people that make up your family. How many moms? How many grandparents? How many pets are in your family? Make a graph.

4. Wash baby dolls, change diaper, put clothes on.

5. Make a family collage out of magazine clippings of families and pets

10. Practice cutting by cutting newspaper or magazine

11. Roll out play dough using rolling pin then use cookie cutters to cut and lay out on baking pan, pretend to make cookies

In advance, cut out and laminate a large number of people, families and others that go with this preschool family activities theme from magazines.

Simply place them at the table for the children to sort in different ways.

Teaching Concepts for Outdoor Experiences

1. Family Clothing Sort

Materials needed: boxes, bins, laundry baskets, different sized shoes and shirts. Place all the items in a large pile. Have the children work together to sort them by type. Encourage them to sort in other ways (all baby shoes and shirts, etc.)

2. Car wash

3. Where Shall We Go? Place many chairs together as a car and let the children take turns being the person driving the family some fun family activities such as to……the park, school, work, supermarket, etc.
