* Post Office- mail box, envelopes of all sizes, stickers, paper, pen, boxes, tape, Mail Carrier Smock, scale (to weigh the mail), etc
* Doctor / Nurse / Dentist – Smocks, first aid kit, pretend medicine bottles (could use an old film container), stethoscope, play bandages, X-rays, etc

* Cover not to be afraid of them in uniform
2. What do I want to be when I grow up? Chart results and why.
3. Community helpers versus strangers – What is the differences?
4. Go in to depth about community helpers, what their role is in the community. Keep building on previous information.
5. Have different Community Helpers come into the classroom for an onsite field trip. Document under special activities on Lesson Plan.
Example- discuss the Dentist coming to look at the children’s teeth. Why is she/he coming? What will the Dentist look at? What do we do to take care of our teeth and our gums?

4. Block game- Children take turns rolling the die, and counting out that amount of blocks from the pile. As they take the blocks from the pile, they construct a tower. After all the blocks are gone, we compare the towers to see whose is the tallest.
5. Make menus using file folders and let children name the restaurant, and cut out foods for the menu, and set the prices
6. Play dough construction. Add wooden craft sticks for children to construct houses and other buildings.

In dramatic play, pretend that the baby doll is crying. Ask questions like:
“My baby won’t stop crying.”
* “What do you think is wrong?”
* “How can we find out?”
* “She feels a little warm, what do you think that means?”
* “We should see if she has a fever. How can we tell what her temperature is?”
* “That’s right; we can use a thermometer to take her temperature just like we user o see what the temperature is outside.”

* “Who can help us when we’re sick?”
Engage the children in pretending to run a restaurant. Use play dough as the pizza dough.
* “We are kneading the dough. You are rolling it into a ball. What will we do next?”

* Designate a child to be the “Nutritionist” and allow him to review the menu.
* A “Police Officer” can go over the classroom rules.
On the playground, engage all of the children in being “Meteorologists” and encourage them to draw pictures of the sky and have books to explore different types of clouds.
