1. Dance with Ribbon Rings (12 inch or less)-scarf ribbon movements. Zig zag, swirl, toss up, left/right, up/down, shapes etc.

3. March to a drum. Teach children how to march to the tempo of a drum, going from slow to fast.

7. Body Percussion “Body percussion” means to use different body parts as an instrument. Your child will be amazed to discover the number of different ways they can make sounds with their own body. Teaching Concepts for small Group
1. DIY Xylophone-Start off by filling various jars with different levels of water and invite your children to use their stick to gently tap on the jar. After they get over the excitement of hearing different pitches of music, ask them was their a difference in the sound from each jar?
2. Make music shakers. To make a basic musical shaker at home you will need a choice of container such as:
Empty water, or other plastic drinks bottle – any size will do
Empty coffee tin
Cardboard tube
3. Make musical instruments using playdough.

1. Make music outdoors.
2. Music Note Hop– Cut out several large music notes or draw them onto paper plates and place them around the room. Have kids move around the circle, from music note to music note while you play a song. When you pause the music, they have to stop on the music note they are on and perform the activity listed on it.
3. Shake and Stop. Have the children shake musical instruments and them stop when you hold up a Stop sign.
4. Musical Sidewalk. Draw music notes on the sidewalks.
5. Follow the Leader. Choose one person to start as the leader. The leader’s role is to create and change the dance moves with the music.
